Police identify miscreants involved in robbery bid
The police have identified three suspects who had jumped over the wall of a house of a goldsmith in failed robbery bid in Verka area here two days ago.
The woman in the house resisted their attempt bravely and bolted the door from inside forcing the robbers to flee empty-handed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Alam Vijay Singh said, “Police teams have identified the three miscreants and they are absconding from their houses. A hunt has been launched to nab them and they would be arrested soon.” He said the police took prompt action in the case by registering an FIR.
Jagjit Singh, a resident of Star Avenue in Verka, said he had gone to his jewellery shop on the Batala road when his wife Mandeep Kaur called him informing that unknown masked persons had tried to enter the house by scaling the wall.
The CCTV footage of the incident had gone viral on social media in which Mandeep Kaur was seen fighting with burglars and despite their attempts, her extraordinary act of bravery dashed their hopes. She was seen using all her strength to keep burglars away and protect herself and her children from them.
It was alleged that the family had approached the police station after the incident for getting a case registered against the suspects but the duty officer acted in a negligent manner. Later, the CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media in no time.
