Police club snatching victim’s complaint with old FIR

It took around six days to lodge the complaint of a snatching victim who was robbed of his bike by unknown armed miscreants on October 3 at Nawa Pind village, falling under Jandiala police station here.

Initially, the police asked him to register a case of theft, but when the complainant insisted, the police instead of registering a fresh FIR, added his case to a similar case registered in August this year.

Pawan Kumar, a resident of Sundar Nagar, Banke Bihari Gali on Batala road, said that he works as a bank agent for employment verification. He said on October 3, he was going from Nangal Dayal Singh village to Jathewal village via Nawa Pind. As he crossed Nawa Pind village bus stop and was going towards Chhina village, three bike-borne persons with faces covered came. They hit his bike because of which he fell down. The accused then snatched his bike (PB-02-DW-7147) by pointing sharp-edged weapons at him.

He said he made rounds of the Nawa Pind police post to register an FIR. Initially, the police asked him to lodge a complaint of bike theft. However, when he insisted, the police added his case with FIR number 220 registered on August 29 at Jandiala Guru police station.
