Passengers protest cancellation of Amritsar-Delhi flight
Amritsar, January 14
After much delay, the cancellation of Air India Amritsar-Delhi flight led to protest by passengers against the airline for giving them misinformation about the departure time of the flight from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport.
The flight from New Delhi-Amritsar too did not take-off due to adverse weather conditions. Dense fog throughout the day affected the Amritsar-Delhi air route.
First, Air India announced that flight No. AI 461/462 had been delayed. When passengers reached the Amritsar airport late, the airlines announced the cancellation of flight before boarding of passengers. This agitated passengers who alleged that the airline had given them wrong information regarding the flight’s timing and cancellation.
“Initially, it was announced that Air India flight from Amritsar to Delhi would take off around two hours late at 10 am. The passengers reached the airport on time. But, when they were about to board the plane, the airline announced that the Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi flight has been cancelled. The airline should have announced the cancellation of flight at least two hours before boarding. Passengers don’t have the option to board any other flight. There are at least 10 passengers, who have connecting flights to the UK and the US. Now, they will miss their further flights,” said one of the passengers.
According to information, fog in the region has reduced visibility to 25 metres. The weather in Delhi is also not good. Amritsar-bound passengers are reportedly suffering in Delhi.
Air India cancelled two flights from Delhi to Amritsar arriving at 3:30 pm and 10:10 pm today. Some other flights on the route were reportedly delayed.
