North zone inter-university youth fest to commence today

Thirty-fifth North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival will commence here from Wednesday, The event ‘YUVFORIA-2019’will be hosted by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU).
As many as 1,500 student and artistes from 37 universities from North India will be participating in this fest. The festival will be held in association with the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, and will show case the competitions in the items of music, dance, theatre, fine arts and others.
Organising secretary of the fest and Dean Student’s Welfare Dr Hardeep Singh said, “Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa will inaugurate the festival at 11.30 am in the Dasmesh Auditroium of the university. Chief guest Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Cabinet Minister and Higher Education minister, will distribute trophies to the winners.”
He said, “Vice-Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu is the President of the organising committee, and Prof Sarbjot Singh Behl, Dean Academic Affairs, is the patron and Prof Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar, is vice-patron of the organising committee for smooth conduct of the fest.
The Vice-Chancellor said, “It is a matter of pride that the Association of Indian Universities has given an opportunity to the Guru Nanak Dev University to host the 35th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival YUVFORIA-2019.”
He said all the arrangements for the stay of the student-artistes, taking part in the event, have been made by various committees.
The events during this festival will be held at various venues like Dasmesh Auditorium; Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan; Conference Hall Guru Nanak Bhawan; and Architecture Department.
