NCC officials call on DC to discuss land availability
Brigadier KS Bawa, Group Commander, Amritsar, accompanied by Colonel Pawandeep Singh Bal, SM, Commanding Officer, 1 Punjab Battalion, NCC, called on Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney to discuss important issues concerning the NCC here on Wednesday.
Availability of land for the NCC Training Area (NTA) figured as a vital matter during the meeting. The DC was also briefed about the progress in the case after due interaction with the District Education Officer and Block Development Officer, Attari, held in last meeting. They pointed out that the creation of an NCC Training Area (NTA) will contribute substantially towards imparting realistic and meaningful training to the cadets. To increase the footprint of NCC in remote and rural areas, a proactive approach through wide publicity and outreach was also discussed.
The Deputy Commissioner, Sakshi Sawhney, assured the officers of the district administratio’s cooperation and assistance in publicising the NCC among the youth of border and rural areas. Social activities and community development events like drug awareness, tree plantation and traffic awareness for NCC cadets was also discussed.
Brigadier KS Bawa, Group Commander, presented a memento as a token of appreciation to the Deputy Commissioner and expressed a commitment towards betterment of NCC cadets of the Majha region.
