Tarn Taran, July 26
NCC cadets of School of Eminence, Goindwal Sahib, observed Kargil Vijay Divas here on Friday. They paid rich tributes to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country during the 1999 Kargil War. Various activities were organised under the leadership of Parmjit and under the guidance of ANO Balbir Singh.
On the occasion, special lectures to commemorate the real war heroes were delivered by ex-Army Officer Capt Bikramjit Singh, Subedar Balwinder Singh (retd) and Subedar Jasbir (retd), who themselves have contributed by fighting with the enemy during the Kargil War.
Sharing his war experience with the NCC cadets, Capt Bikramjit Singh commented on how the brave soldiers of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force showed their courage and war skills to reclaim the territories in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir, which had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and militants and to make India victorious over Pakistan. To mark the occasion, a cultural programme was also presented by NCC cadets Gurkiran, Tarnpreet, Jasmeet and others.
The cadets paid a visit to the cremation ground to pay tribute to Martyr Naib Subedar Rajwinder Singh.
