The Municipal Town Planning (MTP) wing of the municipal corporation took strict action against illegal under-construction buildings here on Friday. On the directions of MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, a team of the MTP wing, led by Assistant Town Planners Parminderjit Singh, Angad Singh and Gurvinder Singh and Building Inspectors Navjot Kaur and Manish Kumar visited the central zone of the city.

The team partially demolished two under-construction hotels in Gadaman Wali Gali, one in Katra Ahluwalia and one behind the old Improvement Trust office. Officials of the MTP wing claimed that they have been constructing hotels without getting the building plan approved. The MC team carried out the operation from 10 am to 3 pm. The team sealed three hotels in Sher Wala Gate, Katra Ahluwalia and Godama Wali Gali as the property owners had started construction of the hotels without getting the commercial building plan approval. MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh said people should start construction only after getting the building plan approved from the municipal corporation. He said strict instructions have been issued to the MTP wing that if any construction is done without getting the building plan approved, then the officials of the MTP department will be held responsible for it.

MC Commissioner Aulakh said in the coming days, the department will take action against unauthorised buildings in every zone of the city.
