The district unit of the Master Cadre Union, Punjab, in its meeting held here on Saturday, demanded the release of all due installments of dearness allowance (DA) to the employees before Diwali festival. Teachers from all over the district participated in the meeting which was presided over by Gurmeet Singh Bhullar, district president of the union. In his address, Bhullar said that the state government has increased the allowances and other perks of ministers and MLAs but the employees were given a step-motherly treatment with just one installment of the dearness allowance in the last two and a half years.

Parshotam Singh, Harpal Singh, Jugraj Singh and Manjinder Singh were among the union leaders who addressed the gathering. The leaders demanded the removal of pay anomalies and restoration of allowances, among others.

The union warned that in case their demands are not met, they would be forced to intensify their agitation.
