Lawyer hacks wife to death in Amritsar, arrested
A lawyer allegedly hacked his wife to death in Judge Nagar locality here late Thursday evening.
The accused has been identified as Baljit Mann and the deceased as Vikramjit Kaur (37). She was a teacher in a private school.
Baljit called the police and surrendered before it.
The police teams headed by Assistant Commissioner (East) Gurinderbir Singh along with the forensic teams reached the spot and carried out the investigations.
At the time of the incident, the couple was alone at their residence. Their 18-year-old son had gone to the gym, while Baljit’s mother had gone to the market.
After killing his wife, Baljit went to the rooftop of their house and started shouting that he had murdered his wife, and yelled to call the police; eyewitnesses said. Later, he himself rang up the police.
The police immediately reached the spot and arrested Baljit from his house. There was blood splattered on his clothes.
ACP Gurinderbir Singh said that the accused had repeatedly hit on the victim’s head with sharp-edged weapons.
A case has been registered and further investigations were in progress, he added.
According to their family, there was no dispute between the couple.
