Health Minister takes stock of measures to prevent dengue

The 400 Medical Officers selected to be appointed in different civil hospitals across the state are being allotted their place of posting soon to give better services to the patients. This was revealed by Dr Balbir Singh, Minister for Health and Family welfare, Punjab, on Saturday while addressing newsmen. The minister was here to hold a meeting with officials of the department in the district to share instructions regarding the prevention of dengue and share other guidelines.

The minister expressed his disappointment over the huge number of flies in the hospital and instructed that proper steps be taken to prevent these.

Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal, MLA, Arwinderpal Singh, SDM, officiating Civil Surgeon Dr Varinder Pal Kaur, District Health Officer Dr Sukhbir Kaur and Senior Medical Officer Dr Sarabjit Singh were among other officials of the department present on the occasion.

The minister visited different wards in hospitals and talked to patients admitted there. He also examined an eye patient himself. He said that the state government was committed to provide better medical services in the state to every citizen. The minister also said that the state government is going to conduct a health survey of all students across the state. He also released a calendar on dengue prevention. Health centres in the border area too would be strengthened with more facilities to benefit residents of remote areas, he added.

Dr Balbir Singh took serious note of lapses in security at the local Civil Hospital and the frequent theft incidents and instructed the SSP to take proper steps.
