Amritsar, August 22

The food wing of the District Health Department collected samples from a ‘bhatura’ stall in Ajnala after receiving complaints regarding its quality of food from residents. Assistant Food Commissioner Rajwinder Pal Singh said a team collected samples of ‘bhatura’ sold at the stall and ‘maida’ used in its preparation.

Singh said during monsoon, small inspects were found in food ingredients. To prevent ingredients from getting spoilt by insects, these had to be stored in an air tight container. “If a shopkeeper finds that food ingredients are contaminated then these should not be used for preparing eatables and discarded,” he said.
