The district administration has issued a three-day ultimatum to satellite channel operators and internet companies to streamline their hanging cables.

In a meeting called in this regard at the DC office on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney instructed the staff of these companies to systematically remove the wires hanging randomly from electricity and telephone poles and other means in the markets, roads and streets of the city. Most of the wires belong to cable TV operators and companies providing mobile internet connections.

Instructing the managers of the said companies, she said the hanging wires may harm the life and property of common people. Cobweb of wires mar the aesthetic beauty of the city. They said in such a situation, it is important that you get your wires, meters and boosters in order. She asked the officials of BSNL and PSPCL to inspect their wires and poles so that improvements can be made wherever needed.
