The Beas police have booked Canada-based gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh, alias Landa Harike, for allegedly threatening and demanding extortion money from a local garment trader.

The victim alleged that the accused demanded Rs 50 lakh from him and threatened to kill him in case he failed to do so.

Deepak Verma (35), a resident of Rayya, said that he runs a ready-made garment shop. He said on November 7, he got a call from a virtual number in which the caller identified himself as Landa Harike and demanded Rs 50 lakh in extortion money. He said initially, he did not take it seriously but yesterday he again got a call from a similar number.
