A week after several armed persons looted a gambling den located in a hotel room in Hall Gate area, another similar incident has come to light in which armed persons looted those engaged in gambling at a residence in Indira Colony area falling under Gate Hakima police station here.
Though the police have arrested one person, his remaining accomplices were still at large. According to police, the incident occurred around eight days ago. The police had arrested Atul alias Ghudda of New Golden Avenue in this connection.
ASI Hardev Singh said that he was on patrolling duty in the area when a specific input was received that Atul Ghudda along with Sunny of New Golden Avenue, Jatin of Sundar Nagar, Sunny Deva of Shakti Nagar, Rinki Masha of Partap Nagar and Mannu Mota of Aman Avenue besides four unknown persons were gambling at the residence of Gama in Indira Colony.
He said Mannu Mota along with his three unidentified accomplices looted the money at gunpoint and fled from the scene.
Now, the police have registered a case under the Gambling Act and Arms Act in addition to snatching against the above said accused. The police said raids were on to arrest the absconders.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested two more persons in connection with looting of gambling money in Green Park hotel room in Hall Gate area that took place on the intervening night of September 7-8.
They were identified as Sandeep Kumar alias Tota of Nangli village and Davinder Singh of Nangali, Fatehgarh Churian road here. Earlier, the police had arrested Raman Uppal, owner of the hotel, in this connection.
During investigations, the police also confiscated 520 intoxicant tablets from Sandeep Kumar. Besides, the police have seized the pistol used in the crime along with five bullets and Rs 8,000 of looted money. The police added sections of NDPS Act in the FIR.
Several armed persons had looted gambling money in the Green Park hotel room located inside Hall Gate area. They allegedly looted cash to the tune of several lakhs from there and fled the scene. The police later registered an FIR on the basis of ‘specific inputs’ as CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media.
Among others who were booked included Amandeep Sharma of Jawahar Nagar, Chheharta, Gurdeep Singh of Harikrishan Nagar, Chheharta and Avinash Kumar of Gate Hakima area.
