Free medical camp for employees
The MC organised a free health check-up camp at the water treatment plant being constructed near Vallah under the Amritsar Bulk Water Supply Scheme. As per the directions of MC Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Aulakh, the camp was organised in collaboration with Amritsar Government Medical College. Free health check-ups were conducted for the labourers and workers involved in the project, as well as for residents of the areas.
A team of doctors conducted check-ups focused on eye care, dermatology and general medicine. The Amritsar Bulk Water Supply Scheme, initiated by the state government with the support of the World Bank, aims to supply clean water to the city.
Water from the Upper Bari Doab Canal would be treated and supplied to every household in the near future. The Health and Safety Officer, Dr Monika Sabharwal, emphasised the importance of maintaining the health of employees working on the project for its timely completion.
