Four peddlers nabbed with 1.4-kg heroin, drug money

The Amritsar Rural Police confiscated 1.4-kg heroin and arrested four persons in two separate incidents in Lopoke police station area here on Thursday. Those arrested were identified as Anmol Singh of Boparai Baaj, David Masih of Bohlia village, Kulwant Singh, alias Kanta, of Miadia Kalan and Manna Singh of Boparai Khurd village.
DSP (Attari) Sukhjinder Thapar said following a tip-off, the police arrested Anmol Singh from the Khasa-Ramtirath road here yesterday. During search, the police recovered 1.3-kg contraband from his possession. He was produced in a court and brought on police remand for further interrogation.
Similarly, the police intercepted David Masih, Kulwant Singh and Manna Singh during the checking of vehicles near the Khiyala Kalan drain. The three accused were travelling on two bikes. Thapar said during search, the police confiscated 40gm, 30gm and 40gm heroin from David, Kulwant and Manna, respectively. The police also seized Rs 40,000 of drug money from Kulwant Singh. The police also impounded their motorcycles in the case.
Two separate FIRs were registered under various sections of the NDPS Act and a further probe was on to find out their backward and forward links, said the DSP.
