Extortion calls trouble businessman

A businessman of Bath Road in Gali Mian Wali here has been receiving threatening calls for extortion.

The businessman first complained of having received a call from gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa of Harike who said he was calling from Canada and demanded a ransom of ~40 lakh from Jashanpreet Singh, threatening to harm his family members.

A week after, Jashanpreet Singh received another call on his cellphone. The caller identified himself as Jaisal Chambal. Expressing his sympathy, he told him not to be afraid of Landa’s call. The very next day on August 9, two armed men fired at his home and fled away. Now on August 10, Jaisal Chambal demanded ransom from the businessman on his mobile phone. — OC
