Election duty trouble

  • Given that all teachers under the Education Department are currently busy with poll duties and will be stationed on duty on February 20, the PSEB has directed that pre-boards be conducted till Feb 25
  • The State Council of Education Research and Training has directed that pre-board exams can be conducted between Feb 14 & 26 and in case of rehearsal, on February 27. But contrary to the decision, the PSEB directed that the results of pre-boards be made online by February 25

Teachers were busy with election rehearsals till February 18. There was no time spared for planning and preparing question papers for pre-boards. The Class VIII science paper was taken with 35 marks in the first term, but teachers are being asked to give marks to students out of 40, which is absurd. — Ashwani Awasthi, District President, DTF

Given that the all teachers under the Education Department are currently busy with poll duties and will be stationed on duty on February 20, the PSEB has directed that pre-boards be conducted till February 25.

“A majority of Education Department employees are on poll duties and can resume their duties from February 21. The State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) had directed that pre-board examinations can be conducted between February 14 and February 26 and in case of rehearsal, this examination may be conducted on February 27. But contrary to the decision, the PSEB has directed that the results of pre-boards be made online by February 25.

“How can pre-boards be conducted and evaluated in such a short time period? Everything goes beyond any reason or logic,” said Ashwani Awasthi, district president, DTF.

The teachers said there seems to be no coordination between the two departments. “Teachers had been kept busy with election rehearsals till February 18. There was no time spared for planning and preparing question papers for pre-boards. The Class VIII science paper was taken with 35 marks in the first term, but teachers are being asked to give marks to students out of 40, which is absurd,” alleged Awasthi.
