Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney and Municipal Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh visited the Bhagtanwala garbage dump today and instructed officials of Averda company, hired with the task of ensuring sanitation in the city, to give their clarification within a day regarding the system of maintaining cleanliness in the city. Company officials held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and MC Commissioner in this regard and submitted their response. Subsequently, the Deputy Commissioner instructed Averda officials to speed up door-to-door collection of garbage.

DC Sakshi Sawhney told officials of Averda company that any negligence in work will not be tolerated. She said that the number of garbage-lifting vehicles should be increased and dry and wet garbage collected separately. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the company to install more machinery at the dump site and speed up the process for bio-remediation so that garbage piles do not accumulate at the dump.
