In a new twist to the robbery incident in which two persons had looted a man in Guru Ram Das Avenue locality three days ago, investigation by police revealed that the ‘victim’ had planned the robbery with his friend and his son.
The police have arrested the teenage son of the suspect while the complainant and his friend are absconding.
Vinod Sharma, Station House Officer (SHO), Sadar police station, said the arrest of ‘complainant’ Rajan Kumar, allegedly a quack, would throw some light on the exact cause behind the incident. The police have nominated Rajan’s friend Manjot Singh, a resident of New Pawan Nagar area (he is also a quack), in the case. Raids were on to nab them.
“The police were suspicious of the crime since day one as the ‘robbers’ came on foot and left the house on foot. The police scanned the CCTV cameras and found an e-rickshaw on which the accused fled. This led the police to Manjot Singh,” said Vinod Sharma.
Rajan Kumar had told the police that two armed robbers had decamped with gold weighing around 250 gm, ~10,000 cash and a mobile phone at gunpoint from the house.
He told the police that he was alone at home when the accused came and said that they had come to update the WiFi. He said when he asked for their identity cards, they asked for water. He said while he went to bring the water, the accused followed him and pointed a pistol at him.
The SHO said the police also recovered the cloths, caps, masks and toy gun from Manjot’s residence. These were provided to them by Rajan. He said efforts were on to arrest the duo.
