Amritsar: Directorate of Placement and Career Enhancement of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a campus placement drive by Wissen Research Company, Mohali. Eleven students from various B.Tech courses, 2025 batch of Guru Nanak Dev University, have been offered internship by the company. The selected students will get a stipend of Rs 15,000 per month during their six-month internship period. On successful completion of internship, the company will also provide jobs to these students. Wissen Research Company conducted an online test, technical and HR interviews of final year students of B.Tech Computer Science and B.Tech Electronics. These students shall join their internship in January 2025 and after successful completion, will be absorbed for permanent roles in July 2025.

Panchatatva comes alive

Holy Heart Presidency School’s annual day celebration was all about creativity, awareness and unity on the theme “Panchatatva”. The event showcased the significance of the five elements — earth, water, fire, air and sky —- while addressing modern challenges linked to their use and exploitation, accompanied by actionable solutions. The chief guest was Gurjeet Singh Aujla, MP, Lok Sabha, Amritsar. Other distinguished guests included Vijay Seth, Anjana Vijay Seth, Vikram Seth and Principal Shilpa Vikram Seth. Principal Shilpa Vikram Seth highlighted the importance of the theme, calling for collective action to safeguard the environment. The cultural programme that followed was a riot of colours, creativity and talent as students from Class I presented an enthralling dance, music and drama performance.

Amritsar’s first Pickleball Tourney

The Sports Centre at the Senior Study II announced the introduction of pickleball to the city and the state of Punjab for the first time. Dr Shravan Mehra informed that pickleball, a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis, has gained immense popularity worldwide due to its ease of play, social nature and numerous health benefits. The Senior Study II Sports Centre organised the first ever Pickleball Tournament in Amritsar to motivate the children, adults and senior citizens to play. The winners of the senior league were Harman Bhalla and Prashant Kathuria. In the junior league, the winners were Meherdeep Singh and Hardit Singh. They were awarded cash prizes and gifts by the sponsors.
