Campus notes: Two-day Talent Hunt organised
Amritsar: A two-day Talent Hunt was organised under the patronage of president of Shahzada Nand College College managing committee Sushma Mehra and principal ReenaTalwar, in which competitions were conducted to bring out the hidden talent of students. More than 100 students participated. Mehndi, rangoli, phulkari, poster making, quiz, skit, tabla and music along with shabad, bhajan, folk song, Bollywood song, ghazal and fancy dress, poetry recitation and elocution competitions were conducted among students. Dance and performance of Giddha added to the fun of the event. The principal appreciated the talent of all contestants and congratulated the winning students and also gave prizes to the students.
‘Hariyali teej’ celebrated
The Global Group of Institutes celebrated ‘Hariyali Teej’ with great enthusiasm. The female faculty and girl students dressed up in traditional attires participated in the festivities. The students enthralled the audience with traditional dance forms of Zimbabwe, Arunachal Pradesh and Punjab. Hostellers from different branches of the institute enjoyed the traditional folk dances and the swing rides during the ‘Hariyali Teej’ celebrations. Presiding over the celebrations, Navjot Kaur Chandi said swings of joy carry you through a journey of happiness, health and prosperity. Urita Chimberengwa from the office of the President and Cabinet member, Govt of Zimbabwe, was the guest of honour. Monika Arora and Raghu Kanojia conducted the programme.
‘Catch cows cues’ launched
In the ever-evolving world of dairy farming and credible bovine health, a programme of ‘Catch Cow Cues’ (Decode Cow) was launched on Saturday at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. HK Verma, principal, who is the architect of the project said there was dire need of large animals in Punjab to grow economically. He said there were concerns about the future challenges to be faced by budding veterinarians and thus an innovative approach was required to integrate contemporary skills and technologies to enhance understanding and efficiency. SK Nagpal, MD, said by incorporating all senses and modern tools, veterinarians could more effectively monitor and interpret how hormones, chemicals and biological fluids impact animal behaviour, posture, activity and appetite, leading to improved diagnostic and treatment capabilities. They said the programme would mark the beginning of an ongoing series of lectures that would be conducted weekly, aiming to lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding on how various body systems impact cow health and productivity through comprehensive discussions and expert presentations.
Coffee table book
The Principal of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, The Mall, Amritsar, Vinodita Sankhyan, and Sanjay Mahajan, CAO of the school met the Governor of Punjab, Banwarilal Purohit. The principal presented him a coffee table book published by the school on the occasion of the centenary of Shri Ram Educational Society (Regd). The Governor appreciated it highly and said Shri Ram Educational Society had maintained its culture and dominance for 100 years (1923-2023). He also shared many educational experiences and extended his best wishes to Shri Ram Educational Society. Sankhyan proudly shared that the foundation stone of the present building of Shri Ram Ashram Public School at the mall was laid by late Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India.
Vikas shines in BAJMC sixth semester
Students of BAJMC, sixth semester, DAV College, Amritsar, did the college proud by performing well in university exams. Vikas Kumar brought laurels to the college by securing first position in Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He has secured 2,209 marks out of 2,700. Principal Amardeep Gupta congratulated the student as well as the teachers for their hard work and showered his blessings on Vikas to be perform well in future as well. Prof Sandeep Kumar, head of MCVP Department, applauded him on his brilliant performance in exams, wished him bright future and appreciated the sincere efforts of the staff.
New computer lab set up
A new computer lab was set up at Bhavans Gandhi Institute of Computer Education. Anita Khara, president of SBI Ladies Club, was the chief guest. Kamal Aggarwal, SBI Manager, and other members of the SBI club visited Gandhi Institute and donated 16 computers to institution. Director Principal Anita Bhalla from Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar, welcomed the resource person by presenting a bouquet, shawl and a painting. They donated 16 computers to Bhavans Gandhi institute of Computer Education. The resource person focused to give free education to learners. This helped educators to stay updated to plan their future in a better way. tns
