Campus notes: Session on open source technology
Amritsar: The Post-Graduate Department of Computer Science and Information Technology organised an interactive talk on ‘Unlocking the power of the open source’. The talk was engaged by industry expert Sajjan Rampal, engineering head, Serviz company. DAV College Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta discussed the potential of open source technologies across various sectors. Keynote speaker Sajjan Rampal highlighted the transformative role of full-stack solution in modern software development. He emphasised the importance of integrating both front-end and back-end technologies for creating seamless, scalable and high performance applications. Over 50 final year students attended the interactive talk with zeal and enthusiasm. Overall, the event inspired the students to passionately dive deep into this revolutionary technology.
Youth fest ‘Skill Aspire’ held
Amritsar: Shri Ram Ashram Public School, The Mall, Amritsar, hosted its youth fest ‘Skill Aspire’ on October 22, bringing together students from grades XI and XII (Non-Medical, Medical, Commerce and Humanities) for a day of vibrant competitions. Principal Vinodita Sankhyan formally inaugurated the competition. More than 130 students from grades XI and XII enthusiastically participated in activities based on dance, cooking, painting, singing, exhibiting their talent, creativity, expression and teamwork. The competitions witnessed intense rivalry with participants demonstrating competitive spirit, exceptional skill and originality. Prizes were awarded to winners in each category, and the overall champion, the commerce & humanities stream, received the coveted trophy. The Head Boy and the Head Girl of the school expressed gratitude to the principal for providing this invaluable opportunity. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Fencing team shines in competition
Amritsar: The Punjab School Education Board organised a Punjab school district level competition at Guru Nanak Dev University from August 20—23 in which Bhavan’s students performed brilliantly and brought laurels to the school. The Under-14 boys’ team secured the third position, Under-17 boys’ team secured third position and the Under-17 girls’ team secured second position. School chairman Avinash Mohindru, Director Anita Bhalla and Principal Sonia Sahdev congratulated the teams and parents of the students for this wonderful achievement.
Professor clears UGC NET
Amritsar: The faculty member of Khalsa College (KC) and passed out student of Bachelors and Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication 2021 batch of the college, Prof Surbhi Sharma has cleared her UGC net exam in Journalism and Mass Communication. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh congratulated Prof. Sharma as well as the head and faculty of the PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication lauding the diligent efforts put in by the department. The Principal added that the college is always supportive towards the efforts of the students to help them in their journey. The diligent efforts of the students and the teachers together bring about such results. Department Head Dr. Sania Marwaha said the college has always supported the students and will continue to do so. Prof. Sharma thanked his parents and teachers for their constant support and guidance in the preparation of the UGC NET Exam.
