Campus notes: Seminar on career guidance

DAV International School, Amritsar, organised a seminar aimed at enlightening Class XII students about higher education and career opportunities. The event featured experts from DAV College, Amritsar, led by its Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta. The speakers included Dr JJ Mohindru, Dr Kiran Khanna, Dr Neeraj Gupta, Dr Shweta Kapoor, and Dr Neerja, who provided valuable insights to the students. The seminar emphasised that Class XII is a pivotal phase in the lives of students, marking the beginning of their journey towards a chosen career path. The experts advised students to make well-informed decisions by exploring available opportunities and following their passions. The experts discussed career prospects such as chartered accountancy (CA), Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) exams. They also highlighted opportunities in sectors like railways, web designing, journalism, film-making, graphic designing and human resource management.

Cultural events hosted

Amritsar: Two cultural events, ‘Bienvenue’ and ‘Cultural Fiesta’ were celebrated at DDI International School, Fatehgarh Churian Road, under the chairmanship of Principal Shabnam Sharma. Students from Play Pen to Class XII participated. In the event Bienvenue, small children performed dances on various songs, including Punjabi heritage, Christmas, New Year, expressing gratitude towards their parents. The programme was followed by ‘Cultural Fiesta’ on December 9. The chief guest, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, attended the event with his wife. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, followed by cultural performances by the school students, replete with dance, music and drama. Students from Class III to XII participated in various performances replete with captivating dance, music and drama. A strong message on today’s pressing issues like environment, effects of mobile use on children’s mental and physical health, collapse of moral values etc were emphatically conveyed to the parents.

Sports Day held

Amritsar: Sports Day was celebrated at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Airport Road, Amritsar. Students from Nursery to class 1 participated with enthusiasm. Principal Dr Rupinder Kaur Grewal described sports as an integral part of the education system in CKD schools and encouraged the students to participate more in sports as well as studies for the all-round development of their personality. At the end of the programme, prizes were distributed to the winning students and medals were awarded.

Programme in mutual funds

Amritsar: BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a certificate programme in mutual funds in collaboration with BSE Institute, sponsored by SBICAPS. Shamsher Singh, BSE trainer, was the resource person for the programme. Shamsher Singh acquainted the students with the course framework and guided them regarding the regulatory exam required to become a mutual fund advisor. Additionally, Sandeep Yadav, Head, Skills, BSE Institute Limited, addressed the students and discussed the various benefits of receiving training and NISM certification in this field. Lastly, he added that this course would help them excel in the financial sector and pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia emphasised that the initiative is a testament to the institution’s mission of fostering entrepreneurial and practical skills among students, considering the changing scenario of the world. She also felicitated the PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration on the successful completion of this event.

Annual Day function

Amritsar: Excelsum High School celebrated the annual day function showcasing the musical play, “Dastan-e-Amritsar”. The event was meticulously planned by Gunita Grewal, Director-Principal of the school in collaboration with the staff members. The play presented the rich history of Amritsar depicting its past and present. It was a light and sound show involving 100 per cent participation of the students. This spectacular event was enriched with music, costumes and cultural dances, filled with hues and vibrancy. Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar graced the occasion as the chief guest. The function commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the guest of honour. The guests were welcomed by the school orchestra comprising the students playing the musical instruments synchronising in rhythm with the mellifluous serenading of the budding music talent of the school.
