Invictus International School

Amritsar: Invictus International school hosted a career festival, ‘Melange’, on October 8 that was inaugurated by chairman Ajit Dhillon. Representatives from more than 50 global universities, including Flame University, Shiv Nadar University, BITS Pilani, Mumbai, Instituto Marangoni, Les Roches, Kedge Business School, India , Manipal University, Jaipur, SP Jain School of Global Management, Plaksha University, OP Jindal, University and Whistling Woods International, among others attended the event. ‘Melange’ acted as an intersection for students and universities from across the globe. “It was aimed at guiding students in making informed decisions about their academic and professional lives. Guidance in diverse fields, ranging from engineering, law and medicine to creative arts and entrepreneurship were provided to the students,” said Dhillon. TNS

Amritsar: The Department of Physics at DAV College Amritsar is taking significant strides in educational innovation through the adoption of peer-assisted teaching and learning methods, complemented by engaging group discussions and hands-on workshops. Department Head Sameer Kalia conducted an insightful workshop on ‘Home Automation Using Raspberry Pi’, where students were introduced to practical applications of automation technologies. This workshop not only provided valuable technical skills but also ignited a passion for innovation among participants. Faculty members led sessions on several topics, including ‘Thin Film Technology’ (Dr Rajesh), ‘MATLAB’ (Dr Neerja), ‘Gel Electrolytes’ (Dr Narinder Arora), and ‘Quantum Entanglement’ (Dr Maninder Kaur and a session on modern physics concepts and their applications in real-world scenarios (Dr Manpreet Kaur).

Amritsar: The NSS Unit of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a valedictory function to mark the finale of its 15-day ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ campaign, held from September 17 to October 2, under the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata’. Chief guest PS Grover, Director, Medic Aid Hospital, Amritsar and guest of honour Ranjit Arora, a renowned educationist from the United Kingdom, graced the occasion. Principal Pushpinder Walia congratulated the NSS unit on organising the campaign. In her address to the volunteers, she emphasised the dire need to inculcate a sense of civic responsibility towards cleanliness, highlighting its importance in making India cleaner, greener and more sustainable. She further encouraged the students to not only avoid littering themselves but also to ensure others did the same, making cleanliness a daily habit. Grover, while speaking on the occasion, stressed the significance of maintaining cleanliness not just of the body, but also of the mind and the environment. Winners of various competitions, along with members of ‘Kora Kagaz Club’ and the NSS Unit, were awarded during the valedictory function. Sapna Mishra of BCom (Sem V) won the most hardworking NSS volunteer award.

Khalsa College

Amritsar: The Rotaract Club and Red Ribbon Club of Khalsa College, Amritsar, in collaboration with Procter & Gamble, organised ‘Personal Effectiveness and Grooming Workshop’ for female students of various departments. Around 502 female students from several departments participated in the event. The primary objective of the event was to share tips with female students on tactics to become confident women. Principal Mehal Singh, Dean (Acadamic Affairs) Taminder Bhatia and coordinator Sawraj Kaur said females were growing more confident. Amardeep Kaur and Gurpreet Kaur told the participants about personal effectiveness by highlighting the importance of personal care and grooming routines. A nukkad natak ‘Betiyan’ was presented by the students.

Cantonment Board School

Amritsar: The concluding ceremony of ‘Swachhta hi Seva-2024’ campaign was organised by Cantonment Board, Amritsar, with enthusiasm Cantonment Board School. Children performed a skit, nukkad natak, dance and songs based on cleanliness, environment protection and Punjabi culture. The chief guest at the event was Brig Yogesh Sharma, Dy GoC 15th Infantry Division and President Cantt Board. Members of Haryaval Punjab, an NGO, participated in the campaign. Brig Yogesh congratulated and applauded the dedication shown by the board in ensuring a successful ‘Swachhta hi Seva’ campaign. He also gave away prizes and appreciation certificates to the staff members/general public. Board CEO thanked the 15th Infantry Division, Station Headquarters and District Administration for their contribution in the campaign.
