Amritsar: The girls yoga team of the Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar, made the institute proud as the school emerged the overall winner of the a district-level competition organised by the Punjab School Education Board on the school campus. The Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 teams bagged the top positions in their respective categories. In the U-14 team, Manyata won a gold medal in the individual event. Anshul won the individual gold in U-17 category. Among members of the U-19 team, Kriti won the silver medal (individual) and Ganinika won the bronze medal (individual). “It is a matter of great pride for the school,” said Director Avinash Mahendru, while congratulating yoga teacher Manpreet Kaur.

Khalsa College for Women

The students of Khalsa College for Women have made the college proud by finishing as the overall second runners-up in the Zonal Youth Fair held at Zone A of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Principal Dr Surinder Kaur lauded the efforts of the students, Dean of Youth Welfare Ravinder Kaur and all the staff for the said achievement and said that in the competitions held during the Yuvak Mela, the college won the first place in the folk song, kavishri, group Shabad, henna and classical dance competitions. She said the college also secured the second position in the gidha, group song, song, ghazal, war, rangoli, debate, skit, classical vocal (solo), cartooning, photography and quiz contests. She added that the college’s mime, mimicry, play, costume parade, on the spot painting, installation, western vocal (solo), western group song, group dance and elocution participants got the third positions.

DAV Sr Sec School, Hathi Gate

The Director of Language Department, Punjab, under the direction of Jaswant Singh Zafar, District Language Officer, Amritsar, organised a district-level written quiz competition at DAV Senior Secondary School, Hathi Gate, with the support of Principal Ajay Beri. The district-level quiz was conducted for different categories like middle, primary and senior secondary sections and for undergraduate section. Research Officer Dr Inderjit Singh announced the names of the winning students, who were awarded with cash, certificates and medals.

Guru Nanak Dev University

In an initiative to promote health and wellness among students, WellnessZ, a healthtech startup founded by Simarpreet Singh, a student of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), organised a marathon on the campus. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 30 students, who joined the 4-km marathon. The winners of the marathon were rewarded with exclusive Adidas merchandise, presented to the top five finishers. Simarpreet Singhsaid, “It was a great experience to see such enthusiasm among students. At WellnessZ, we are committed to building a healthier community, and events like these are the perfect way to inspire people to take charge of their health.”
