Campus notes: Awareness rally on World AIDS Day
The Red Ribbon Club of DAV College, Amritsar, observed World AIDS Day with an awareness rally aimed at educating the public about the prevention and management of HIV/AIDS. The rally was flagged off by principal Dr Amandeep Gupta, who also addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of creating awareness to combat misconceptions surrounding AIDS. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. Principal Dr Gupta highlighted the global efforts to end the AIDS epidemic and stressed the significance of youth in driving this mission. He urged students to adopt a compassionate attitude towards those affected and to propagate accurate information about the disease. Prof Ashu Vij, coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club, underlined the role of the club in organising such awareness campaigns to promote healthy lifestyle among students. The rally, which proceeded through key areas of the city, witnessed students holding placards and banners with messages promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. The event successfully conveyed the message of solidarity and responsibility in fighting the AIDS epidemic.
French language proficiency exam
To promote linguistic excellence, Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, recently conducted the Basic Level 1 Exam under the 'French Language Activity' for the academic session 2024-25 as part of regular 'Hobby Classes' which the school has been organising for the last couple of years. This highly anticipated event drew enthusiastic participation from the students across Grade VI to VIII. The examination, which comprised both oral and written components, aimed to assess the students' grasp of the French language and their ability to communicate effectively. The successful candidates were awarded certificates, acknowledging their remarkable achievement. Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, principal of Shri Ram Ashram Public School, emphasised the significance of language proficiency in today's globalised world.
Constitution Day celebrated
BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, celebrated Constitution Day that falls on November 26 to promote constitutional values among faculty and students as per the directions of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. To mark the occasion, Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia along with the faculty and students took an oath to abide by the core values of the Constitution. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia explained the significance of the values enshrined in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution to the students. Emphasising the notions of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, she highlighted that the Preamble serves as a unifying force by guiding us towards a more just, inclusive and harmonious society.
CWSN athletes at Karampura
During the training camp organised by the state-level team selected for the national cricket competition for special children, District Assistant Commissioner Sonam encouraged the players to perform their best. Differently-abled players at Government Resource Centre, Karampura, will compete with players from other states of the country at the International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur from December 1 to 3. On this occasion, talking to the cricket team with children with special needs, she said that the students with special needs are being encouraged through sports and academic programme at the government-run centre.
