Campus notes: Annual function Metanoia-7
Stalwarts World School, hosted its annual function Metanoia-7. The event was graced by honourable guests, including Sheetal Sohal, president of Phulkari WOA. The central theme of the annual function was ‘Books: The Elixir of Life.’ Students from Grades 3, 4, 8 and 11 actively participated in this grand celebration. Students depicted the lives of literary and historical figures such as Rabindranath Tagore, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Harry Potter and Amir Khusro through mesmerising acts. Iconic characters from India’s political history, including Ashoka and Chandragupta Maurya, were enacted. The battlefield discourse between Lord Krishna and Arjuna resonated powerfully, while the dialogues between Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Ravana captivated the audience. The tale of Alibaba and the Forty Thieves was brought to life through a vibrant dance performance. The students also showcased the contributions of historical and social reformers like Ahilyabai Holkar and Fatima Sheikh. Literary works by Rabindranath Tagore and Harivansh Rai Bachchan were enacted, bringing their poetry to life. Principal Manisha Dhanuka emphasised the importance of books, calling them a human’s best companion.
Athletics meet at The Millennium
The annual athletics meet was organised at The Millennium School, Batala. Ashwani Kansra, principal of Baring Union Christian School, was the chief guest. School chairman Varun Khosla, director Payal Khosla and school principal Gurmeet Singh inaugurated the programme by lighting the torch. Later, the students of the school presented songs, aerobics, dance and bhangra. In the athletics meet, various sports such as 50 meters race, 100 metre race, 200 metre race, long jump and javelin were organised for the students in which all the students from Nursery to Class XII participated. Gurmeet Singh said that the aim of this athletics meet was to provide all-round development to the students. He said that sport is beneficial for the physical and mental development of students.
Inter-University Youth competition
Students of Visual and Performing Arts Department of Guru Nanak Dev University participated in Vaar, Kavishari and Kali competitions and presented their amazing performances in the Inter-University Youth Competition being organised at Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. They got the second place in Kardo Vaar competition, third place in Kavishari competition and third place in Kali competition. Dr Rajesh Sharma, head of the department, said that Vaar singing was performed by Jagmeet Kaur, Mahima Rani and Kritka. Kavishri was portrayed by Kritka, Muskanpreet Kaur and Mahima Rani and Kali was portrayed by Jagmeet Kaur, Muskanpreet Kaur and Mahima Rani. Kirat Singh on Sarangi and Gurinder Singh Rasia on Dhad accompanied the students with these presentations. The preparation of these complete presentations was conducted under the supervision of Dr Rajesh Sharma, convener of university music items. The said students won first positions in Vaar and Kavishari presentations in zonal and Inter-Zonal Youth Melas conducted at GNDU.
