The Sadar police claimed to have solved a blind murder case in which body of the victim, identified as Surjit Singh (45), a resident of Bhai Manjh Road, Kot Mit Singh, Amritsar, was recovered from fields at Piddi village on the Tarn Taran-Patti road on November 21.
Extra-marital relations of the wife of the deceased were cited as the reason behind his murder. SSP Abhimanyu Rana said here today that Manpreet Kaur, wife of the deceased, besides her paramour Jaspal Singh, a resident of the Tarn Taran road, Amritsar, and his friend Gurmeet Singh Babba, a resident of the Sultanwind road, Amritsar, were arrested in this connection.
The SSP said Manpreet Kaur had extra-marital relations with Jaspal Singh. Her husband always objected over this relationship. Jaspal Singh called Surjit Singh at his house on the night of November 20 and served him liquor. When Surjit got drunk, Jaspal slit his throat with a sharp weapon and threw his body in fields of Piddi village. The victim’s body was recovered by the police on November 21.
