The Sadar police have resolved a blind murder case of a 30-year-old Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Barad Mohalla, Patti, by arresting his wife Pritika and Gurpartap Singh, her sister’s husband. Manjinder Singh, a resident of Ahemadpur, paramour of Pritika, and another suspect are absconding. Kanwalpreet Singh, DSP, Patti, said besides arresting two of the four suspects, the police recovered sharp weapon used to kill Gurpreet and the car used in the crime.

The DSP said Gurpreet worked at the shop of Gurpartap and Manjinder in Cheema Kalan village. Manjinder had developed illicit relations with Pritika due to which she used to hate her husband Gurpreet. The suspects called Gurpreet on October 8. After serving him liquor, they killed him with sharp weapon and threw the body in Harike Canal which was recovered on Thursday. The DSP said Pritika and Gurpartap were arrested while Manjinder, Pritika’s paramour, and another suspect Sukhdev were on the run. The suspects were booked under Sections 103(1), 238, 61 (2), 3 (5) of the BNS, the DSP said.
