Tarn Taran, August 25
The district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a membership workshop at the party’s headquarters here on Sunday.
The event was held under the leadership of BJP district president Harjit Singh Sandhu. Office-bearers and the other workers of the party from across the district flocked in to participate in the workshop.
Punjab minister Manoranjan Kalia, state secretary Suraj Bhardwaj and party spokesman Naresh Sharma were among those who addressed the gathering and called upon party rank and file to go to the masses, especially the weaker sections of society to apprise them of the Union Government’s policies. They also called upon party leaders to go to the doorsteps of the poor sections of society during the membership drive. Party leader Manoranjan Kalia released a toll-free number 8800002024 for the membership. The leaders claimed that people themselves were coming forward to become members of the party and the officials pledged to enroll the maximum number of party members. Harjit Singh Sandhu presented a vote of thanks. Manjit Singh Manna, who was the party candidate for the last Lok Sabha elections, was conspicuous by his absence.
