Amritsar: BBK DAV College for Women has achieved recognition in the India Today’s Best College Ranking List of India 2024 edition. The college secured impressive positions across various categories. Notably, it is ranked 5th nationwide in the category of colleges offering the Best Value for Money. BBK DAV College applies for these rankings annually and has consistently secured improved rankings every year. This year too, the college applied for rankings across six different streams. The college secured 32nd position in fashion, 43rd in mass communication, 51st in BCA, 77th in B.Com, 91st in BBA, and 97th in sciences. Colleges are assessed based on multiple indicators categorised under five broad parameters: intake quality & governance, academic excellence, infrastructure & living experience, personality & leadership development, and career progression & placement. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia congratulated the students and faculty on this significant achievement.

High Goal Inspires Soul contest

In the inter-house competitions, students of Revel Dale Public School gave a presentation on the theme, “High Goal Inspires the Soul”. In this presentation, a document called Goal Manual was shown by each child, which mentioned their goal, their strengths, weaknesses, their resolution and their way of improving further. Students of Classes VII to XII participated in the competition. Principal Rajiv Arora said the purpose of this activity was to cultivate in children the value and worth of high goals.

Girl wins bronze in karate c’ship

Japneet Kaur of Class VII at Guru Amar Das Institute, Goindwal Sahib, has won the International Karate Championship. Dr Jatinderpal Singh Randhawa, director of the institute, said here on Saturday that the 23rd Milo Open Karate Championship was held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) recently. More than 2,100 students from across the world participated in the championship, said the director. He said Japneet Kaur, daughter of Sandeep Singh, a resident of Goindwal Sahib village, won bronze medal. She was given guidance by her coach Jatinder Kumar and got inspiration from her grandfather Jaswinder Singh. Manisha Sood, principal of the institute, congratulated Japneet Kaur and encouraged her to scale new heights.

INSPIRE MANAK AWARD

Jalandhar: Kartik Sharma, a student of Police DAV Public School, has been selected for the state-level exhibition and project competition under ‘Inspire Manak Award 2022’ for the idea – ‘Removable toothbrush bristles’. He will represent Jalandhar. Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (INSPIRE) scheme is one of the flagship programmes of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The INSPIRE Manak Awards being executed by DST with National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF) aim to motivate students to think out of the box and come out with innovative ideas. Principal Dr Rashmi Vij commended Kartik for this momentous achievement.
