ASI takes Rs 2K as bribe, held
A team of the Vigilance Bureau apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bhupinder Singh, posted at Goindwal Sahib police station, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 on Saturday.
A Vigilance Bureau official said that a complaint was lodged by Dilbag Singh, a resident of village Dhunda in Khadoor Sahib. Dilbag Singh alleged in his complaint that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 for producing a record in his favour in a police case being heard in trial court.
The Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap during which the accused ASI was caught while accepting the bribe money in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at the Vigilance Bureau police station, Amritsar range.
