Amritsar Sahitya Utsav and Book Fair to be held from November 19 to 23
The 9th five-day ‘Amritsar Sahitya Utsav and Book Fair’ is being organised at Khalsa College from November 19 to 23. Coordinator of the fair Dr Atam Singh Randhawa said that around 150 book stalls will be set up by renowned publishers at the fair. Popular comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi will entertain the audience.
Acting principal of the college, Dr Arvinder Kaur Kahlon said that a poetic function would be held during the fair, dedicated to Dr Surjit Patar, which will be presided over by Swaranjit Singh, Director, Punjab Kala Parishad, Chandigarh. The chief guest will be Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director, Department of Languages, Punjab, while the special guest will be Dr Kuljit Singh Janjua (Canada) and Parminder Sodhi (Japan).
Punjabi singer Glory Bawa will perform at the cultural programme in the evening. Dr Kahlon said that the fair has become a part of essential activities of the college and Punjabi literary personalities, thinkers and artists wait for it eagerly. She said that actors Rana Ranbir, Anita Devgan and Hardeep Gill will entertain the audience during the fair.
Apart from this, cultural and heritage material have also been displayed. Atam Randhawa said that around 150 writers, poets, thinkers and artists are participating in the five-day fair. Every day during the fair, a cultural programme will be presented in the evening, in which there will be performances of giddha, bhangra and folk songs.
