Amritsar police seize 2 kg heroin, arrest 3 in cross-border drug trafficking case
In a significant crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, the CIA staff of Amritsar Police Commissionerate confiscated 2 kg of heroin and apprehended three individuals. The suspects’ names have not been disclosed due to ongoing investigations into their links.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that preliminary inquiries revealed the arrested individuals were in contact with Pakistan-based drug traffickers, utilising social media apps to coordinate drone-delivered smuggling.
“Acting on specific intelligence, CIA Staff-1 arrested the trio from Dana Mandi, near Bhagtawala, while they were traveling on a motorcycle, which was also impounded. The suspects’ disclosures led to the recovery of the contraband,” said the CP.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Division C police station here.
