Amritsar Police freeze drug peddlers' properties worth Rs 37 crore

The Amritsar rural police on Wednesday attached the properties of two drug peddlers worth Rs 37.72 crore, located in Mode border village and commercial property at Kale Ghanupur road here.

SSP Charanjit Singh said the accused Jatin Singh and Ajaypal Singh of Mode border village were arrested by the rural police with 500 gm heroin and an illegal pistol of .32 calibre in July.

A case under NDPS act and Arms act was registered against them at Gharinda police station.

“The police identified their properties which they accumulated with ill gotten money from illegal drug trade. The list was sent to competent authority which gave their go ahead,” said the SSP.

Police seized the residential building of Jatin Singh, located in Mode village and valued at Rs 5.85 lakh. Similarly, another house, shop and a banquet hall belonging to Ajaypal, located opposite OCM mill on Chheharta road, was attached by the team.

It also confiscated another residential house belonging to him in Mode village. The two properties were valued at Rs 37.66 crore.
