83 units of blood collected at donation camp in Gurdaspur
A blood donation and cancer awareness camp was organised by AAP halqa in-charge and Chairman of Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) Raman Bahl to mark the 97th birth anniversary celebrations of his father and ex-cabinet minister Khushal Bahl.
The camps were organised in collaboration with World Cancer Care Society, Gurdaspur Blood Donors Society, Inner Wheel Club and several other social organisations.
As many as 83 units of blood, which were donated by people from different walks of life, were collected and handed over to a team of doctors from the Gurdaspur Civil Hospital.
“Blood is meant for circulation, so donate it liberally. It is an essential element that keeps us alive and in times of emergencies or serious health conditions, its need becomes crucial, hence, the need to hold such camps. Hospitals sometimes request the patient’s family to arrange for blood. If a patient does not get the required quantity of blood, it could prove to be fatal. That is why blood donors are indeed heroes who not only perform a noble act but also save lives when it is needed the most,” said Raman Bahl.
Medical diagnostic tests too were held and medicines distributed free
of cost.
Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar inaugurated the camp. He exhorted people to come forward on their own to take part in such events.
