3 more arrested in dry fruit robbery worth Rs 2 crore in Amritsar
The Amritsar rural police have apprehended three additional individuals in connection with the dry fruit robbery worth Rs 2 crore that occurred at a cold storage facility in Ibban Kalan village on September 4.
Those arrested have been identified as Dharminder Singh, Harpreet Singh, and Sahil Singh, all residents of Asal village in Ferozepur.
Previously, the police had arrested four suspects, including notorious criminal Thana Singh of Zira, who has 11 criminal cases registered against him. The other suspects arrested were Parveen Singh of Zira, Jaswinder Kaunr of Gudaspur, and Ravinder Singh of Adampur, who had one case registered against each of them.
During the investigation, police teams recovered large quantities of dried fruits and grocery items looted from the storage facility, where the security guard and labourers were detained. The recovered items include 29 bags (30 kg each) of black pepper, 40 bags (30 kg each) of black grams, 189 tins of cashew, 62 boxes of fig, 76 buckets of almond and 5 bags of turmeric, besides other items.
Amritsar Rural SSP Charanjit Singh stated that the accused were produced in court and taken into police custody for further investigation.
