3 district schools, 3 in Tarn Taran receive Best School Award, cash prizes

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains distributed Best School Awards among 69 schools in Punjab during a function today. He gave away Rs 5.17 crore award money to schools for further upgradation of infrastructure. Calling it another step in improving school infrastructure, Bains said funds were being allotted to beautify buildings of schools and improving the quality of education.
During the event, each school was awarded a prize amount of Rs 10 lakh, 7.5 lakh and 5 lakh, respectively, after selecting one senior secondary, one high and one middle school of each district in the state.
The best school was selected from each district on the basis of educational and co-educational parameters of government schools of the state.
Among schools, which were awarded in the category of senior secondary schools, included Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mahana Singh Road, Amritsar, and Government Senior Secondary School, Goindwal Sahib, Tarn Taran. Both schools received the Best School Award along with Rs 10 lakh prize money for each institution.
Similarly, among schools, which were awarded in the category of high schools, Government High School Guru Wali, Amritsar, and Government High School Algo Kothi, Taran Taran, received Rs 7.5 lakh each along with the award.
Among the category of middle schools, Government Middle School, Kot Mahana Singh, Amritsar, and Government Middle School Bela, Tarn Taran, received Rs 5 lakh each and the award.
