Rs 27 crore to be spent on road widening in Ajnala
A project of widening roads in the Ajnala rural constituency here was inaugurated by local MLA and Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Dhaliwal said in the first phase, 35 km of various roads would be widened.
He said the project would be completed at a cost of
Rs 27 crore. The minister said all link roads connecting the rural areas would be widened keeping in view of the increase in vehicular traffic. He said potholed roads were also being repaired.
Dhaliwal said the Ajnala rural belt had been ignored for the past many decades by subsequent governments. He said during the past two-and-half-year of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government rule in Punjab, various projects for the development of the area had been initiated.
The minister claimed that all public works, including paving of streets, installing streetlights and CCTV cameras, were being undertaken so that residents could get better civic amenities.
While talking about the recent victory of the AAP in bypolls of the three Assembly segments, Dhaliwal said the people had reassured their faith in Bhagwant Mann-led state government. He said the party would win 2027 Assembly elections with a bigger majority.
