Punjab Police bust cross-border drug cartel; 105 kg heroin seized

In one of the biggest seizure of drugs, the Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police busted a cross-border smuggling racket by confiscating 105 kg of heroin, reportedly smuggled from Pakistan, along with 6 pistols, with arrest of two persons in Baba Bakala area here late on Saturday night.

Police said the accused Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar are associates of foreign-based drug smuggler Navpreet Singh alias Nav Bhullar.

The Counter Intelligence wing confiscated the heroin stashed in a rented accommodation in Baba Bakala.

Taking to X, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said, “Water-route was used to transport drugs from Pakistan, big rubber tubes of tyres have also been recovered, indicating that narcotic contrabands have been smuggled through water way.”

Besides heroin and weapons, police also confiscated around 32 kg of Caffeine Anhydrous and 17 Kg DMR.

A case has been registered at State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station and further probe to establish backward and forward linkages to arrest more criminals involved in the drug cartel is under way, the DGP added.
