Amritsar MC Commissioner reviews Smart City projects
Newly appointed Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh held a meeting with officials of Amritsar Smart City Limited (ASCL) to review progress of various ongoing projects.
A presentation was given by smart city officials and all projects were discussed in detail. The MC Commissioner-cum-CEO, ASCL, also reviewed financial aspects of the ongoing projects.
Aulakh said there should be proper maintenance of projects, which were completed in the past under the ASCL. The ASCL was responsible for their upkeep, he said.
Giving information about projects, Aulakh said, “The projects should be completed within stipulated time. I will visit some of the sites shortly to check the ongoing works. It’s an opportunity for me to serve the holy city and ensure that all basic civic amenities are available for residents on priority.”
Out of 35 projects proposed by the ASCL, 29 projects worth Rs 142.84 crore were completed in the past eight years. The government had allocated Rs 912 crore to improve living conditions, provide a clean environment and good infrastructure to residents.
Projects completed in past years did not provide solution to problems faced by residents.
The projects completed include installation of water ATMs, sanitary napkin vending machines, bottle crusher machines, LED streetlights, colourful lights under bridges, self-service tourist kiosks, rooftop solar panels, purchase of firefighting equipment, sanitation machines and development of parks and open spaces under flyovers.
Superintending Engineer Sandeep Singh, project coordinator Prem Sharma, accountant Tamanna Ahuja, JEs Manmeet Singh and Rajat, Dr Jyoti Mahajan, Ferry Bhatia, Vinay Sharma, Ashish Kumar and others were present at the meeting.
