Amritsar, July 14

On the first day of the public grievances redress meeting called by MC Commissioner Kumar Saurabh Raj, around 20 complaints were listened by the Commissioner here on Thursday. After hearing the complaints of residents, the MC Commissioner stated that illegal construction going on in the city would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against the violators. Disciplinary action would also be taken against officials, who allow these illegal constructions.

While listening to grievances of people, a retired employee of the MC complained that he didn’t receive his service book after retirement. The MC Commissioner asked him to get an FIR registered immediately and get a new service book issued within 15 days so that he could get his pension benefits.

The MC Commissioner said old grievances would also be reviewed after every 15 days and every officer of the MC would take action on the grievances and report within the stipulated time.

“As per reports, rainwater has accumulated in many places due to blockage of sewerage, on which I have issued orders to all field staff to fix the system. Strict action will be taken against negligent officials and employees. There should be no inconvenience to public during monsoon,” he said.
