Amritsar: Global Group of Institutes organised an interactive session on “Anger Management” at its campus. Yogesh Sharda from Turkey and a renowned personal development trainer and workshop facilitator shared his expertise and vast experience with the management, faculty and students. Yogesh Sharda in his address outlined the ways to manage stress and anger by applying simple techniques and doing certain exercises. He acquainted the audience with simple breathing exercises, self-control measures required in developing self-control and postponing the reaction to any provocation to reduce the intensity of anger.

Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana

Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University, organised ICSSR sponsored one-day national workshop on disseminating outcomes of short-term empirical research project (2023-24) on “Disseminating Outcomes of Short-Term Empirical Research Project (2023-24) on Impact of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) on Entrepreneurship Development in Punjab.” The workshop was followed with the keynote address by prof Jasbir Singh, Department of Economics, Jammu University. Prof Jasbir Singh highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and various initiatives undertaken by the Government of India to provide training and financial assistance especially to the underprivileged sections of the society. The workshop continued with presidential remarks by prof Palwinder Singh, professor in charge examination. He emphasised that India is rich in terms of resources and utilisation of these resources in an effective manner is the need of the hour. The workshop further continued with address of Monica Kashyap, founder of Wellness Experts and beneficiary of PMMY. She focused on “Do not follow a trend, make a trend”. The workshop then continued with two technical sessions on policy implications in the form of short and long recommendations were discussed.

White Coat Ceremony at KCVAS

A White Coat Ceremony was organised at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) to mark the ceremonial entry of newly admitted students into veterinary profession. In this ceremony, White Coats were presented by principal HK Verma to the 100 first year students of BVSc & AH degree course. The special event was presided over by principal Verma in the presence of Dr AM Pande, Dr SK Kansal and other faculty members. The students exhibited a special verve for this ceremony and cheered their classmates as they received the White Coat from the principal. He emphasised upon the responsibilities attached with it and elaborated at length on the duties of the veterinarians as the custodians of animal health and welfare.

National Science week celebrated

Department of Botany and Post Graduate Department of Physics & Electronics of DAV College, Amritsar, jointly celebrated National Science Week on the theme “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. The event was catalysed and supported by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) and Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. Dr Rajni Bala, head, Department of Botany, and Dr Sameer Kalia, head, PG Department of Physics and Electronics, were the convenor of the event. On the first day, a competition on “waste to best” was organised to promote the concept of sustainability and creativity among the students. The participants came up with unique ideas to recreate the waste material. The best entries were given trophies. The second activity was “night sky” watching where the students gazed through the telescope and learnt about the positions of different planetary bodies in the sky.
