Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa busy on home turfs, but several party leaders missing from poll scene

Though Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief-cum-Ludhiana MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and former deputy chief minister-cum-Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are busy campaigning for their spouses, several party leaders are missing from the political scene in four byelections.

Amrita Warring, wife of the PCC chief, and Randhawa’s spouse Jatinder Kaur are in fray from the Gidderbaha and Dera Baba Nanak Assembly segments, respectively.

While Warring and Randhawa are members of the strategy-cum-planning committee for the byelections, former CM and Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi is nowhere to be seen.

Being a Dalit, Channi holds significant influence in Doaba where the Chabbewal Assembly segment would witness voting on November 20. On being asked, Channi said he had been assigned duty for the Maharashtra Assembly poll.

Thus, the party is left with the Leader of Oppositon Partap Singh Bajwa, who has been criss-crossing the state to attend public gatherings.

Bajwa said, “Since Warring and Randhawa are busy on their home turfs, I have taken the responsibility of coordinating with party workers in poll-bound segments.”

Even during the Lok Sabha poll, Warring and Randhawa remained stuck in their respective constituencies. As a result, the party leadership could not focus on other segments.
