PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring spent Monday night at the grain market in Gidderbaha along with farmers who have been sitting there for the past few days to sell their crop. He also had dinner with them and left from there in the morning.

“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is coming to Gidderbaha on Tuesday to campaign for AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, but the state government is least bothered about farmers and farm labourers who are facing problems with paddy procurement, said Warring at the grain market on Monday night.

He added, “When the rest of the country was celebrating Diwali, our farmers were sitting in darkness due to the pathetic approach of the state government. I am here to ensure that their voice reaches the corridors of power.”

Warring further said some farmers like Jagjit Singh have even camping here for the past 20 days to sell their produce. “The farmers told me that their produce was gaining moisture and getting destroyed. Their hard work is being put to waste. The state government advised certain varieties of paddy which they grew, but now the procurement agencies are reluctant to buy them,” claimed Warring.

He warned the state government that if the situation did not improve, the Congress would hold a statewide protest.
