Ajit Doval, Jake Sullivan agree to advance bilateral ties
New Delhi, July 12
Days after multiple “not-so-pleasant” statements originating from the US around India-Russia ties, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval spoke over the phone and agreed to “advance India-US relations”.
A statement from the Indian side said the NSAs agreed to work closely to further advance bilateral ties, which are built on shared values and common strategic and security interests.
“They reiterated the need to work collectively to address global challenges to peace and security and further expand the comprehensive global strategic partnership,” the Indian statement added.
A wide range of issues of bilateral, regional and international concern were discussed, including the forthcoming high-level engagements under the Quad framework to be held in July 2024 and later in the year.
Quad Foreign Ministers are set to meet in Japan at the end of this month and decide the next course of action.
