Aiming to make Kinnaur top dist in cleanliness: DC

Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Sharma today attended the closing ceremony of a five-day training camp on solid waste management, organised by the District Development Office under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Savings Building in Reckong Peo. Sharma expressed his gratitude to retired IAS officer Deepak Sanan, social worker Somnath Sen, and Ajit Kumar for providing training on solid waste management and raising awareness about environmental conservation among representatives and social workers from the district’s three development blocks.
He said through the five-day training camp, participants were made aware of proper solid waste disposal methods so that they could educate people at the village and panchayat levels with the goal of making Kinnaur the top district in the state and the country in terms of cleanliness.
The attendees of the training camp were educated on various methods of proper solid waste disposal, including recycling, landfill management, incineration, composting, vermiculture, and pyrolysis, the Deputy Commissioner added.
He exhorted residents of the district to properly dispose of domestic waste to keep Kinnaur beautiful, clean environmentally preserved. CMO Dr Sonam Negi provided information on solid waste management to the attendees, stating that the solid waste from various hospitals in the district was being disposed of through appropriate means. She also highlighted the awareness efforts regarding the proper disposal of expired medicines and used medical equipment.
