Ahead of poll, police hold flag march in Panchkula
The Panchkula police, along with the CISF paramilitary forces, took-out a flag march at different places in the district on Tuesday. The march was led by station in-charges under the leadership of ACPs to maintain law and order during the upcoming Assembly elections.
The flag march was carried out in markets, streets and mohallas.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Himadri Kaushik said the code of conduct for the upcoming polls is in force. She said, “The police department has formed five special companies to maintain law and order to ensure that there is no negligence. We are ready to deal with all kinds of anti-social activities. Apart from this, 12 static surveillance teams have been set up at border checkpoints to keep a strict vigil on every person and vehicle entering the district. We are constantly monitoring the situations to avoid any anti-social activity or smuggling of liquor, cash and drugs.
The flag march was taken out in urban and rural areas of sectors 5, 7, 14, 20, Chandimandir, Kalka, Pinjore, Raipur Rani and others.
The DCP said the purpose of the flag march was to create a sense of security among the general public. Police officials said strict action would be taken against those who spoil the atmosphere during voting. Police spokespersons said they have prepared a complete framework to conduct fair and independent elections. “We have started establishing blockades in all areas. Strong security arrangements have also been made at all polling centres, including sensitive booths,” an official said.
