Several teams of the Agriculture Department have conducted random checks at fertiliser sale centres in the district to ensure that DAP and other fertilisers are not being sold in black and are being provided to farmers at reasonable prices without unnecessary tagging.

Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind directed the Agriculture Department officials to ensure that fertiliser dealers are displaying the rates and availability of fertiliser at their shops and are issuing bills bearing their mobile number to the farmers.

The DC said Fatehgarh Sahib district was likely to achieve ‘Mission Fateh’ as only 164 cases of stubble burning had been reported this year so far against 618 cases reported last year.
